Go West Young Fam!

Is it possible to feel borderline terrified, completely overwhelmed, and yet incredibly excited all at the same time? There’s no telling how many times RockyMomma and I have asked ourselves, “Are we totally insane for doing this?”

Maybe a little – but in just a few days, we’ll be loading up our family of five and heading to Colorado for a one-year adventure. Scared? Yep. Excited? Absolutely!

We’ve also relied heavily on both of our parents since the twins were born (talk about life coming at you fast), and now we feel like we’ll be flying “without the net.” Thankfully, both sets of parents have scheduled Colorado trips over the next few months.

I just spent 3 days in Colorado looking for a house to rent and working out some other moving details. It is a truly beautiful place, with the mountain views from pretty much anywhere in the city. This move has been through several on-again off-again stages for about a year — and we’ve had some hiccups along the way, but now it’s finally all coming together.

Please pray for our family, both for safe travel, and also as we make decisions about the move and try to get our house ready to leave. I will be driving the van out with A on the 21st (call it a cross-county daddy-daughter date). RockyGirl will be flying out with K and E (and her parents as needed backup) on the 24th. Today’s weather report predicted the first snow before the end of October (what’s this I hear about

I don’t know what the future holds for our family. I’m sure there will be some days filled with challenges and many days filled with joy. My prayer is that, as a family, we will learn to enjoy the journey together.

We know that God is in control, and our trust is in Him. So even with some trepidation we turn the page and start a new chapter. More memories to make, and even some real mountains to climb — and isn’t that exciting?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain
